Today, we’re delighted to officially welcome footballer Romelu Lukaku to the Beyond Meat family. Romelu has experienced first-hand the nutritional benefits of incorporating plant-based meat into his diet and is ready to share how he always strives to Go Beyond®:
Why did you choose to partner with Beyond Meat?
I’m thrilled to be teaming up with Beyond Meat as I have experienced how their delicious options have made eating plant-based convenient, and I love how it helps me lead a balanced lifestyle. Beyond Meat has great values, and I think this is an opportunity to help people see that going plant-based can be easy - you don’t have to be vegan or vegetarian to go beyond meat.
Why did you choose to add more plant-based meals to your diet?
From my time in Italy, diet became a big part of my daily life. I understood that food can completely change my training performance and mindset. I found out that I had a digestive problem that I didn’t know about before, and since changing my eating habits, I’ve noticed such a difference. Over time I’ve really understood how eating more plant-based food, like Beyond Meat, can seamlessly fit within my routine.
What advice would you give for anyone looking to successfully reduce their meat intake and move to a flexitarian based diet?
For anyone looking to make the move, I’d say to start out gradually and swap out your animal-based meat for plant-based protein a few times a week. Beyond Meat makes it easy as their Beyond Burger®, Beyond Sausage®, Beyond Meatballs® and Beyond Mince® can be used in all recipes, and tastes delicious.
What did you think the first time you tried a Beyond product?
The first time I tried the Beyond Burger, I couldn’t believe it was plant-based. I had two straight away, they were great. I was in shock!
How often do you cook?
When I have the time, I cook four to five times a week, I really enjoy it. I improved over the years when I was in Italy so I can finally say I’ve become a good chef!
What is your favourite Beyond Meat product?
The Beyond Sausage!
