El Segundo, CALIF. (May 16, 2024) – Beyond Meat, Inc. (NASDAQ: BYND), a leader in plant-based meat, today announced the debut of its popular new fourth-generation Beyond Burger® in foodservice. The new patties, which are made with avocado oil, were developed in partnership with leading operators and culinary experts to deliver an even juicier, tastier, more nutritious and versatile plant-based burger option for the foodservice channel. In a recent survey, of respondents that mentioned health benefits and clean ingredients as key drivers when purchasing a plant-based meat product, products using healthier oils were top-rated in health considerations for both Commercial operators (76%) and Non-Commercial operators (73%)¹. Beyond Meat is one of the first plant-based meat companies to use avocado oil as it expands its portfolio of delicious, nutritious and sustainable plant-based meat products.

The new 2.5oz Beyond Burger patty is an excellent source of protein – 13g per serving – with just 1g of saturated fat, and no cholesterol or added antibiotics or hormones. The product’s meatier flavor and taste were preferred over the previous version in consumer testing², and feedback on the new burger from operators who have tried it has been overwhelmingly positive. Additionally, at a recent conference of registered dietitians, 94% of attendees³ said they enjoyed the taste of the new Beyond Burger, viewed it as healthful, and would recommend it.

Highlights of the new Beyond Burger:

  • Tastier, beefier flavor thanks to avocado oil’s smoother, more neutral flavor
  • Designed to sizzle, grill and cook even better than before because of avocado oil’s higher smoke point
  • Just 1g of sat fat per patty (75% less than 80/20 beef) due to the high levels of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats⁴ in avocado oil
  • Added nutrient-dense plant-based ingredients including red lentil and faba bean protein
  • Simplified the ingredient list, including removing the coconut and canola oils
  • 20% less sodium vs. the previous version⁵

“Since we first announced the new, fourth generation Beyond Burger in retail, we’ve received a lot of interest on the foodservice side, and are excited to meet that demand with our new 2.5oz Beyond Burger foodservice patty. This product was developed in partnership with foodservice operators, for foodservice operators, and the response from folks who have tried it, is how amazing it tastes and how well it performs in their kitchens. Beyond IV represents the most significant renovation in the company’s history, and we couldn’t be prouder to expand our foodservice portfolio with yet another amazingly delicious and nutritious product to make it easier than ever for operators and consumers to Go Beyond,” said Dawn Lockwood, VP, Foodservice North America, Beyond Meat.

In addition to the new Beyond Burger patty made with avocado oil, Beyond Meat is also debuting Beyond® Crispy Nuggets, a perfect blend of light, golden tempura coating and tender, plant-based chicken to deliver a satisfying crunch in every bite. The new products will both be sampled at the upcoming National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago along with Beyond Meat’s Food and Beverage Innovation (FABI) Award winning products including the Beyond Smashable Burger, Beyond Steak, and Beyond Sausage. An 8-time FABI award winner, Beyond Meat is proud to consistently be recognized in the foodservice space as a leading innovator in plant-based proteins.
