BEYOND MEAT BUILDS BOARD LEADERSHIP FOR STRATEGIC GROWTH

Former McDonald's CEO Joins Board, and Honest Tea Co-Founder and CEO Named Executive Chairman

El Segundo, CA - November 5, 2015 - Beyond Meat, a leader in creating mass-market plant based protein, today announced two additions to its leadership. Don Thompson has joined the company's Board of Directors while current Board member Seth Goldman will assume the role of Executive Chairman of the Board.

Thompson was formerly Chief Executive Officer and President of McDonald's Corporation. Over the course of his tenure he served as President and Global Chief Operating Officer, President of McDonald's USA, as well as Executive Vice President of McDonald's Restaurant Solutions Group. Thompson was responsible for establishing, integrating and orchestrating McDonald's innovation pipeline and provided system leadership to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities, including overseeing concept development, R&D and menu management functions. Thompson worked at McDonald's for nearly 25 years, beginning his career there in 1990.

"We are delighted and truly honored to have Don join our board," said Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat. "Don's expertise and leadership is invaluable as we seek to deliver on our promise of enabling consumers to eat what they love, without any downsides. We look forward to working with Don to bring our plant-based meats to consumers here in the United States and abroad."

"Today's customers want great taste, choice and variety in the foods they eat," said Thompson. "More and more, every day, the traditional favorites of beef, fowl and fish are being augmented with additional plant protein sources to satisfy this new taste demand. Ethan and the team at Beyond Meat have proven that you can actually have great taste and high quality with plant based proteins - even in a burger!"

Seth Goldman to serve as Executive Chairman of the Board

Seth Goldman, co-founder and CEO of Honest Tea, and a Beyond Meat Board member since 2013, will assume the role of Executive Chairman of the Board. He will split time between his responsibilities at Coca-Cola, parent of Honest Tea, and this new role at Beyond Meat.

Goldman co-founded Honest Tea out of his home in 1998 with Barry Nalebuff, his professor at the Yale School of Management. In search of the perfect thirst-quenching beverage, Goldman invented Honest Tea, an organic brand that strives to create healthy and honest relationships with its customers, suppliers and the environment. In 2011, The Coca-Cola Company purchased Honest Tea, and today it is the nation's top selling organic bottled tea, carried in more than 100,000 outlets. "I've been very fortunate to have Seth as a close and trusted advisor to me for a number of years," said Beyond Meat's Brown. "Given his tremendous capabilities and expertise and our shared passion for the Beyond Meat mission, I've long sought Seth's greater involvement and am absolutely thrilled to have him join the team as our Executive Chairman."

"I am so excited by the mission and opportunity of Beyond Meat, that I can't resist the challenge of helping to guide the growth of another enterprise I believe can be a major driver of health and environmental change," said Goldman of his greater role at the company. "Although building a plant-based protein company may not seem to bear much resemblance to Honest Tea, Beyond Meat's journey feels very familiar. Each is a mission-driven enterprise that challenges the dominant position of category leaders who have not evolved much over the past few decades. Perhaps most importantly, when I describe Beyond Meat to friends and family, I get the same puzzled look that I encountered back in 1997 when I would describe my plans for a lower-calorie bottled tea with a commitment to social responsibility. That tells me there will be years of great opportunity and impact ahead."
